Alan Wake, Remedy Entertainment’s 2010 cult hit, is getting a remastered edition for various platforms. Alan Wake Remastered will be available for PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series S/X, and the Epic Games Store on PC.
Alan Wake, a psychological thriller that was originally an Xbox 360-exclusive product that went through a lengthy development phase, is a psychological thriller in which you play a writer searching for his missing wife in the Pacific Northwest. The game was later released for PC in 2012, but Alan Wake Remastered will be available for the first time on PlayStation systems.
The remake will include “all-new rendered 4K visuals,” commentary from writer and creative director Sam Lake, plus the expansions The Signal and The Writer, according to Epic. Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, a pulp horror-influenced spinoff, does not appear to be included.
Epic signed a publishing partnership with Remedy last year for two titles, one of which the studio billed as a “AAA multi-platform development” and the other as a lesser project in the same universe. It is unclear whether Alan Wake Remastered is the latter project; if so, this could indicate a potential Alan Wake sequel. The critically praised Control, Remedy’s previous game, also made several subtle nods to Alan Wake.
There isn’t a specific release date for Alan Wake Remastered yet, and it should not be very long – Epic claims it’ll be released this fall.
