An issue with the iPhone 14 Pro cameras that causes them to tremble when the user tries to use a third-party camera software will be fixed by Apple in an upgrade to iOS 16.
On Sunday, rumours spread of a problem with the cameras on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, wherein third-party apps using the camera would produce shaky and grainy footage.
Apple acknowledged that there was a problem with the Pro models in a tweet from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, adding that a “software fix will be published next week.” Apple admitted that it had an effect on third-party camera-using apps.
Some customers have reported experiencing camera module shaking when using third-party apps like Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok. The problem showed itself in the hardware, alerting customers to a problem with their devices by noisy motors and visible motions.

It appears that the shakes could be resolved by software, or at the very least an update that will impact all apps that use the camera module and not just Apple’s own, as the default camera app was unaffected by the problem.
Although the shaking has no known cause, the vibration and motor noises suggest that optical image stabilisation devices could be faulty. Apple employs a second-generation Sensor Shift OIS, which moves the sensor inside the camera bump, for the new 48-megapixel Main camera.
