Netflix has announced the addition of spatial audio to its service, which allows for theater-like immersive audio using existing stereo speakers.

Netflix is collaborating with Sennheiser on their spatial audio technology (AMBEO 2-Channel Spatial Audio), which helps translate the ‘cinematic experience’ of immersive, surround-sound audio to any stereo.

Netflix is the first streaming platform to use the Sennheiser system, and the format is now available in 27 titles, including “Stranger Things,” “The Witcher,” “Locke & Key,” “Interceptor,” “Red Notice,” “The Adam Project,” “The Haunting of Bly Manor,” and the “Fear Street” trilogy, among others. Typing ‘spatial audio’ into the search bar will reveal which titles support it.

Furthermore, Netflix supports Apple’s lauded spatial audio on Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad devices, enhancing 5.1 surround sound and Dolby Atmos audio.

Netflix was one of the first services to embrace high-end display technology, with many of its key originals supporting 4K, Dolby Vision HDR, and Dolby Atmos.
