Signal Says Facebook Has Banned its Ad Account After Trying To Run A Transparent Ad Campaign On Insta

When there is a controversy over WhatsApp’s new privacy policy update, Signal saw an opportunity to expand its privacy-focused messaging service and made the most of it. And now the Signal is taking a shot at Facebook’s way of acting of commodifying troves of data of its users with funny Instagram ads. And signal is saying that their ads were rejected and their ad account is also disabled and Facebook is denying this.

Signal designed multiple ads to show us the type of data that Facebook collects and sells access to in an easy and effective way. And these ads didn’t show up in anyone’s profile because Facebook disabled these ads, according to signal.

Facebook’s spoke person Joe Osborne claims on Twitter that Signal never really ran ads and their ad account wasn’t disable for that reason. According to Joe, the screenshot that the signal shared was taken back in March when the signal’s ad account was temporarily disabled for an unrelated payment problem.

However, the screenshot shared by Twitter looks like it was taken from March. We don’t really know when the signal tried to run ads, however, it’s hard to prove which company is right or wrong in this situation.
