These three questions test how quickly you can spot a rule in a sequence or grid and extend it. It's one of the oldest and most language-independent categories in IQ testing, which is part of why it's usually the very first thing a real test asks you to do.

Before jumping to the answer choices, try stating the rule out loud, in words, first. Whether it's a difference, a ratio, or a rotation, naming the rule makes it far easier to check whether an option truly fits, instead of guessing which one "looks" closest.
